SHAY ROWE
Shay Rowe has been involved with Camp Olympia since 2004. She has been at camp whether camper, counselor, or weekend staff since she was 6 years old. Shay is now our new Program Director, also oversees the photography, specialty weekends, and more! During the school year she spends her time recruiting our O-mazing summer staff, marketing/social media, helping run weekends, and planning all the fun for the summer.
Shay graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2018 with a degree in Political Science. She grew up with a passion for sports, specifically volleyball, participated in Junior Service League, and was involved as a chair holder in her sorority, Sigma Sigma Sigma. Shay and her husband Dylan Rowe got engaged right here at camp in 2019 and got married in September of 2020. Camp Olympia has always had a special place in her heart, since a J-Girl. From there she went on to CLP, O’Crew and years of being a Senior 1 counselor. She made lifelong friends through camp from camper to counselor, now Full Time.
Shay loves many things about Olympia but one of the main aspects that kept drawing her in and helped her comeback was the atmosphere created by our staff. It is something different and unique here – getting a front row seat to experience (new and old) counselors forming and growing their relationships throughout the summer, loving on kids, supporting each other, and having the time of their lives all from the time they come into our gates!
When Shay isn’t working, you can find her taking pictures and playing with her corgi pup, Maverick, reading, hanging out with friends, or learning golf with her husband, Dylan Rowe, who is one of the co-head golf professionals at the stunning Whispering Pines!
