Camp Leadership Program

The Camp Olympia Leadership Program (CLP) is the pinnacle of an Olympia camper’s tenure at camp and a once-in-a-lifetime experience! It is a program for prior Camp Olympia campers who are sixteen years of age by July 1.

The CLP Program offers a unique summer camp adventure as it combines a Camp Olympia experience in Texas with a week-long Colorado adventure, including: leadership training, lifeguard and first aid training and certification, rock-climbing, team ropes course and initiatives, whitewater rafting, and climbing a mountain together as a team. This special camp program focuses on building leaders, fostering teamwork and improving self-confidence.

Leadership Training

The leaders of the CLP program are hand-picked not only because of their excellence as a Camp Olympia counselor, but because of their ability to mentor and develop leadership skills with our oldest campers. We want each CLP camper to learn responsibility, leadership, and what it means to be a positive role model. The CLP campers will get a glimpse of what it is like to be a counselor when they have the opportunity to shadow senior counselors as they teach and coach throughout the day.

Lifeguard/First Aid Certification

Our CLP campers will participate in First Aid & Waterfront Lifeguard training at the Camp Olympia pool and at The Point. As a result of their hard work in training, they have the opportunity to become certified while at camp. This training is a wonderful bonding experience and training for the CLP campers prior to their trip to Colorado.

Colorado Experience

CLP campers will experience an unforgettable week in Colorado, which includes rock climbing, high and low ropes, whitewater rafting, and mountain climbing. This experience is like none other! During the trip, campers learn so much about themselves, about others, and how to be successful leaders and supportive friends. Lifelong friendships are made!
