Keegan Callahan has been with the Olympia family since working his first summer as a counselor in 2016, joining our year-round staff in 2019. Keegan has held many different roles and Camp over the years but now focuses on our Retreats. As our Retreats Director and Account Manager, he handles the booking of all weekend/weekday retreat groups that use our facility throughout the school year. For our summer camp, he also leads our Junior Golf Academy, serves as camp’s Billing Manager, and coordinates all of our tours for prospective families.
Keegan, while born in Colorado, is a proud Texan and Austinite. As a child, he attended camp in the Hill Country, but once school sports entered the mix, they quickly took over his life. He grew up running cross country and track which is what led him back to Colorado to attend college in Durango at Fort Lewis College. He took advantage of playing in the winter wonderland for four-years and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in History in 2019.
If you were to ask Keegan’s family and friends before college what he would have done, almost all of them would have said become a teacher. After spending just one summer at Olympia, Keegan saw the opportunity to teach kids in a different, more relaxed environment. His friends in Colorado soon found out that if he started to talk about camp, it would not be a brief conversation and he eventually became “that summer camp guy”. The fresh air and lack of standardized testing was all it took, and he quickly found himself planning out his life to where he could spend as much time at Olympia as possible, with a new dream job in mind.
When Keegan is not at work, you can find him exploring our National Parks, talking about “boring” history, or attempting to whoop counselors in a game of soccer. He also loves to run REALLY long distances… for fun. Find him at a marathon near you!
If you have questions or need to contact Keegan, send him an email or give him a call at 936-594-2541.
