Olympia History
What is your favorite memory of Camp Olympia? Is it blobbing, learning to ski, Olympian of the Day, or Spartan/Athenian? Do you catch yourself saying phrases from camp, like "Good Deal" or "Be There or Be Square"? Do you ever find yourself singing "Taps" or the Dolphin Day song? Camp Olympia is a special place to our current campers and staff, as well as so many alumni. Olympia is celebrating its 41st summer in 2008 and it is always fun to look back on all of the great years at camp. It is amazing to see all of the new improvements to camp, but coming through the gates of camp, it still feels like home.
Kathy and Tommy Ferguson, Olympia's Directors for over 30 years, have seen camp grow through the years. Though technology, styles, and our overall culture has changed, you'll hear Tommy and Kathy say that there is definitely one thing that has not changed and that is the heart of a child.
Camp Olympia was started by Chris Gilbert and Corby Robertson, Jr. in 1968 and both are still the owners of camp today. Their love of camp is evident in their dedication to making Olympia the best camp in the world for its campers and counselors.
